In the fall of 2006, ACYPL was one of three implementing partners of the “Europe and Eurasia Emerging Young Political Leaders Seminar” in Chisinau, Moldova. Working side-by-side with the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute, ACYPL provided trainers and seminar facilitators for the 4-day long event. Funded by the United States Agency for International Development, the seminar brought together over 70 young leaders from 18 different countries and regions. Its purpose was to increase youth engagement, participation and awareness in all aspects of public life and nurture youth as the future generation of leaders; support the expansion of youth leadership virtual communication networks, enhance their skills and broaden the exchange of experiences; and to organize and engage youth leaders of selected countries in an exchange of public policy best practices and training of trainers programs.

The seminar had two main components: workshop interactive sessions and real-life exercises. Workshop sessions were devoted to the topics of democratic stability, communication and development, and followed by a discussion on action plans to be implemented in participating countries.

At the seminar’s conclusion, participants developed an interactive website, www.democraticyouth.net, to remain in contact with one another and share resources, news, tools, and other important information. The site is now being administered by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, a non-governmental youth organization in the region.
