ACYPL Honors Evening on June 18th
ACYPL is excited to announce our annual Honors Evening, a night for us to gather with our friends and alumni to honor great figures in political culture. This year, we’re excited to recognize two amazing and influential leaders.
Congressman Keith Ellison of Minnesota is nothing short of a trailblazer. Elected to Minnesota’s 5th District in 2006, Congressman Ellison is the first Muslim member of Congress and the first African-American member of Congress to represent Minnesota. As co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Chief Deputy Whip for House Democrats, Congressman Ellison’s leadership is a reminder that America’s greatness comes largely from our willingness to accept people of all backgrounds. We at ACYPL not only believe in the importance of giving everyone a fair shake, but also in the wisdom that comes from the open exchange of differing views and perspectives. For that reason, we couldn’t be happier to welcome the Congressman to speak to us.
As chairman and CEO of the El Pomar Foundation, President Emeritus of the United States Olympic Committee, and chairman of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, Bill Hybl’s contributions to his country can hardly be measured. A longtime supporter of ACYPL, Mr. Hybl has hosted over 25 international delegations from the El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs, contributing massively to our success as an organization. Like ACYPL, El Pomar also fosters its own young leaders, giving its fellows the opportunity to work alongside a wide variety of organizations that receive support from the Foundation. Mr. Hybl is truly a large part of why ACYPL is here today.
The invite for the event is below, and we’re very excited to hear these two incredible speakers. To RSVP or learn more about the event, please contact Development and Outreach Manager Emily Cushman at 202-448-9322 or by email at ecushman@acypl.org.
